In
February 2010 we plan to support to the
Precept
Training
Center and School
Window Rock, Arizona

It has been 18 years since Jim and Linda Maiorano
pulled up their Bucks
County stakes and moved west to serve the Lord in the
Navajo territory of
Window Rock, Arizona.
The Lord continues to bless their work as the
Precept
Training
Center and School grows and flourishes.
It
is not an easy ministry. The Navajo Nation continues to suffer due to lack of employment and
poverty. There is a high rate of
alcoholism. But there is also a natural beauty and a belief that things can be
better for the people, under the right circumstances.
The Maiorano’s believe that much of what is needed can be found in
the simple acceptance of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the grace that will come
through faith in Him alone.
But believing is a struggle. It involves giving up
customs and beliefs that have been handed down through ancestral lines – and
risking rejection by tribal and family members. Many of the children in the
school have come to Christ but continue to go home to families who are not
believers. Eventually, some will go out on their own to share their newfound
Christianity.
At the school, there are greenhouses where the
students grow their own flowers and vegetables, and animals to be cared for as
well. Nothing is wasted, and structures are built with materials discarded from
builders and home improvement stores. A load of windows ordered the wrong size
was donated by Sears and used to build much of one of the greenhouses.
The students tend to two milk goats
that keep them supplied with milk and assist in zoology and animal husbandry
courses. They work with computers, learn languages, excel in science and math,
and work at a pace that would rival the best schools. And of course, they spend
much time in the Word.
Jim and Linda ask for your prayers for wisdom in
dealing with the situations that arise among the students and their families. Also pray for their continued health
as they struggle with all the challenges of running a school, ministry, home,
family and small farm. This year, they have also been dealing with a family
issue that has been a drain both financially and emotionally. Pray for this to
be quickly resolved, so their strength can be devoted entirely to the Lord’s
work.
The Lord is doing a great work on the reservation
through Jim and Linda. This is a ministry that requires a 100% commitment every day of one’s
life! Praise God that two such faithful servants as Jim and Linda have raised to
the challenge. Please give generously to this wonderful ministry during
February.
